WSSU Inspirational Voices Honor Late Director at “Fall into His Presence” Concert

On November 9th, the Winston-Salem State University Inspirational Voices Gospel Choir held their “Fall into His Presence” concert, a heartfelt tribute to their late Choir Director, Edward Jackson Jr. The event brought together students, families, and community members for an evening of worship, reflection, and celebration of Jackson’s lasting impact. 

The Made Above Comfort Praise Dance team delivered a powerful performance centered on surrender and spiritual guidance. director Joselyn said the choreography reflected their prayer for God to guide their steps throughout the year. “We wanted our dance to show what it means to submit to God fully,” she said. “When you let Him order your steps, He walks with you through everything.” 

Choir member Erin Thompson expressed how meaningful the tribute was for the group. “Ed was more than a director, He was a leader who truly guided you,” she said. “Honoring him meant so much to all of us.” 

Attendee Cayla Parrot said her motivation for attending the concert was supporting her sister, a member of the Choir. She described the concert as spiritually uplifting. “Seeing people my age worship encouraged me to keep pursuing my own relationship with God,” Parrott shared. “The songs also brought me a lot of emotional comfort.” 

One moment stood out to Parrott more than any other. the choir’s performance of a song composed by Jackson himself. “It really touched me,” she said. “It showed that the work someone does in their lifetime can continue to bless others even after they’re gone. It reminded me how important it is to make an impact while I’m alive so my work can live on too.” 

The concert served as a moving celebration of faith and legacy, ensuring that Edward Jackson Jr.’s spirit continues to inspire the WSSU Community.
