WSSU Opens their basketball season with their official home game against Virginia University of Lynchburg on November 18th, Tuesday Night

On November 18th at 6 P.M, Winston Salem State University (WSSU) Rams Basketball took on Virginia University of Lynchburg for their first home game matchup of the season. The energy was definitely brought from both teams and their crowds as there was a hard-fought game to play.  Being up at 43-32 in the half, the Rams were able to finish the game coming out on top with a score of 94-77 as their first home victory for this year. With so much more in store and many more basketball games to be played, this win held a significant importance for the team and brought a lot of motivation that will be needed to get through the season.

WSSU basketball Coach Corey Thompson speaks to the team and their returning players stating, "We've been through this before, so they understand the system, the expectations, and the pace we want to play at.” With that in mind Corey aims to keep their team morale high and hold returning teammates to a standard stating “Their presence brings a sense of comfort and confidence to the team, and that steady influence is definitely going to help us grow and play at a higher level this year” With many players already knowing the system in place, and how ball is to be played at WSSU he claims the team has “ been through this before, so they understand the system, the expectations, and the pace we want to play at.” Point Guard Jaiden Thompson implores that for this season to go well everybody on the team must be and stay in sync when it comes time. Having praise for the transfers and new additions being added to the team he states, “If we can stay disciplined and clean up the small mistakes, I think we’ll keep improving and reach the level we know we're capable of.”
