Student leaders at Winston-Salem State University are working to represent the student body and implement campus improvements as the student government continues its efforts during the 2025-2026 school year in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Student Government Association (SGA) members focus strongly on improving communication between the students and administration, increasing student involvement in campus decisions, and addressing concerns raised by the student body 


Christopher Gaines, who’s running to be the next Mr. Sophomore and current Mr.Freshman, says, “Emphasizing on service, motivation, unity, family, and bringing that championship energy back to Winston-Salem State University.” 


Another candidate running for Mr., Josiah Lyons, echoes the importance of resilience and notes that the student government plays a key role in campus life, “setting goals and creating moments that will remind students why they started.”

According to Simaurey Mills student body is important for university education because it helps bridge the gap between the students and the administration while encouraging student involvement in different things 


SGA continues to encourage students to attend meetings, voice concerns, and participate in campus experiences 


As the academic school year continues, current student government officials say their goals remain centered on strengthening student voices and making sure campus decisions reflect the needs of the student body
